slowhand asked:

Looking for an effective, readily available, anti aging facial cream. What to look for when shopping for one.
I am lookiing for a brand name here, not generalized information on how the products should or can work.

What products work. What ingrediants to look for. None of us have time to try them all.

It is common knowledge that different people can get very different results with the same anti-aging product. Experts usually explain this fact by variations in individual body chemistry. Sometimes it is indeed true. However, quite often the truth is far simpler. Different people often get different results because they apply skin care products differently. Skin is a dynamic system whose condition and properties depend on temperature, hydration, environment and other factors. Therefore, the skin’s ability to absorb the anti-aging skin care products can vary greatly.

The best thing I’ve found is actually not an anti-aging cream. Instead I use something called Aquaphor which is made by Eucerin. It is mostly used as a healing ointment for very dry skin, however, if you put a thin layer over your face every night your skin will retain its moisture and prevent many fine lines and wrinkles that people usually get. It is especially great in the summer for preventing all of the wrinkles that come from being out in the sun. Plus, it’s odor free and dermatologist recommended. Good luck!

You’re right – different results for different people. Especially with over the counter products.

I would advise a different regimen with your skin care and preventing aging to include avoiding the sun and eating well and sleeping well.

And remember that creams are not everything, there are also drugs that you can take.

I have been using Lancome Primordiale Optimum Night for about 10 years and it works well for me. I have normal/combination skin. It’s a night cream but I use it during the day. It’s kinda expensive, but it lasts a long time. It’s also cheaper than other Lancome anti-aging products.

I would suggest Pro- Active. It not only clears up acne, but also gives your face a healthy radiant glow.
